Diamonds
Symbolized "heart of eternity"

The word Diamond
is derived from the Greek "adamas" (unconquerable).
It is believed that Diamond is the symbol of an engagement
ring. Diamond has strong hardness from scratching, so it is
also connected to image of "Eternal Love".
In ancient times, the Diamond was men's Gemstone. It was believed
that a man's hand and foot became strong when the Diamond
was put on left side. There was also legend, when fighting
with an enemy, diamond obtained a victory for its wearer.
When did women come to put on Diamonds? Once upon a time,
Diamond was only mined in India, it was the object of envy
for the Royal Families of Europe. It is also a natural result
that the Diamond was gradually connected with the symbol of
financial ability and power, and the Royal Families were attached.
Especially, between France court and Diamond's connection
was deep.
Pioneers' emotional strength is admired anytime. It was first
time when a French woman is wore the Diamonds which was men's
symbol till then. The woman's name was Agnes. In order to
pull King Charles VII's mind, she borrowed some Diamonds from
the knights, and used the Diamonds as her original designed
necklace. Her demonstration was succeeded in catching a king's
heart splendidly. Although Charles VII was generally known
as a king helped by Joan of Arc, Agnes must also have been
reflected in the brave woman for him. This will change with
a cause and Agnes will receive a king's love.
This simulative occurrence woke the women of the France court
of those days, competition that vies in beauty to the symbol
of wealth and authority was added from the 15th century to
the 18th century, and the history of the scramble of a Diamond
was developed. However, for people, the Diamond was far beyond
reach. Because, the clergymen and the porphyrogenite monopolized
the Diamond as a symbol of power. Rescinded a ban of gemstone
at the French Revolution (1789).
The Jewish who immigrated to Poland around then proposed the
custom of also presenting ordinary women with each other's
engagement ring, as porphyrogenite's daughters were presented
with the engagement ring. Diamonds mines were discovered besides
India: in Brazil around 1720, in South Africa around 1870,
in Australia and Canada after 1980. Discovery of these mines
animated the jewelry industry and the Diamond became the symbol
of an engagement ring completely.
